For me, it amazes me how rich in detail and colorful a picture of Donald Duck looks when made in metal embossing. To be able to use the methods and techniques that some consider "obsolete" requires a lot of time researching, practicing, and ultimately appreciating the effort put into creating the original art pieces. For instance, Walton Ford using printmaking to mimic Audubon's 19th-century naturalist art style, and Csaba Markus using a painting technique, the Sfumato, that's most famously used by Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. ![]() ![]() ![]() Long story short, some artists look to the past and actually use the same methods artists they are inspired by use. Then maybe I can bestow a little enlightenment: I've been in advance drawing classes and part of our course is to watch contemporary artists and discuss them with fellow classmates.
